Courses for Schools

Aim of our Staff Courses

Our courses develop skills that allow staff to function more calmly and effectively in challenging situations, whilst remaining clear and focused. To this end, they examine the physiological, psychological and emotional aspects of development and clarify the essential requirements within the helping role. This serves to sharpen negotiating skills which in turn more effectively support, encourage and motivate teenagers during this emotionally turbulent phase of development.

In addition to the marked improvement in relationships between staff and students, we have received feedback that there is also an improvement in relationships between training group members, this appears to result in an improved staff room environment.

The course will focus on:

Translating Teenagers

What will the Training achieve?

Staff are the key component of a school and their influential input as role models cannot be overstated. They are some of the most valued, inspirational and trusted adults in a student’s life, and as such they can play a crucial part in helping children to successfully navigate the stormy teenage years. By deepening an awareness amongst staff of their own social, emotional and behavioural responses, the course promotes and develops clearer communication that ultimately benefits the whole school community.

When a more emotionally literate approach is adopted by staff towards relating, communicating and problem management, students have the opportunity to experience and emulate these attitudes, creating and contributing to a better school atmosphere. High levels of emotional literacy amongst staff are reflected in students who are more adept at managing their relationships, their emotions and their work. As a result, they are more confident, with greater levels of self-belief and optimism.

OfSTED and DfES research has noted that a school’s level of emotional health and wellbeing can have a positive effect upon:
